When it comes to shoes, we strive to offer our customers the perfect fit every time. Our shoes provide an amazing level of comfort and support for your feet as they are made using a variety of high-quality fabrics combined with expert design. However, the most important factor when buying a new pair of shoes is choosing the correct size to fit your feet. Before you commit to buying a new pair of our shoes, be sure to consult our essential size guide to ensure that you choose a pair that will protect and support your feet properly, whatever type of fit you are looking for.

If you have wide feet, finding the right fit can be a little more tricky, as they can often vary from brand to brand. This guide is designed to help you understand what wide fit shoes are, how to know if you need them and how to choose the right size of Gabor wide fit shoes for you.

Do Gabor Shoes Run Wide?

While we offer an excellent variety of standard fitting shoes on our website, we also place a high amount of importance on catering to any of our customers that require a wide fit shoe.

You can find these on our website by simply choosing the category of the type of shoes that you are looking for and selecting ‘wide’ or ‘extra wide’ from the ‘fitting’ section on the left side of the page. This will filter down the products in your chosen category to display shoes that are available in the fit you are looking for.

What is a Wide Foot Size?

Anyone who has feet that are slightly wider than the measurements reflected in standard shoe sizes is likely to require a wide fit shoe. As feet come in all shapes and sizes, it goes without saying that standard shoe sizes don’t always provide a one size fits all solution, which is why many types of shoe ranges tend to offer wide fit options.

The width of a wide fit shoe tends to vary based on your shoe size, so it’s important to know the exact width of your feet before you buy. You can do this by using a tape measure or a ruler to get an exact measurement. While it isn’t possible for us to put an exact figure on how wide a wide fit shoe will be, we can provide a good example of this. The average width of a UK size 6 female shoe is around 9cm. A wide fit version of this will usually be around 10cm in width, while extra-wide fit shoes will typically measure around 11cm or more.

Ultimately, wide fit shoes offer a larger amount of room for the foot, with wider and deeper sections for the toes as well as more room up around the instep, increasing your level of comfort and support.

How do I Know if I Need a Wide Fit Shoe?

Telltale signs that your shoes are too narrow may include pain when wearing them, recurring blisters, bunions and corns, as these are all caused by an unnecessary amount of pressure on specific areas of your feet. If your feet are showing these classic signs of needing wide fit shoes, we recommend exploring the options.

Choosing a wide fit shoe over your usual standard fit shoe allows for your foot to spread out naturally, avoiding the uncomfortable pinching sensation that is often associated with standard fit shoes that are too narrow.

Gabor Wide Fit Shoe Size Guide

The sizing of wide fit shoes is indicated differently from a standard shoe, as each size is symbolised by a letter or series of letters rather than numbers. In terms of UK sizing, popular sizes include C, D, E, EE and EEE. However, this system can vary from brand to brand, so your width fitting might not be the same across all manufacturers.

Here at Gabor Shoes, we use the German version of width fitting, consisting of the letters F, G and H only. To help you to determine your width fitting, we have included the table below, which converts our way of sizing into the UK sizing, making it easy to find out what your size would be in terms of the German system that we use here at Gabor.
