How to style the latest trainer trends this winter

When we think of winter footwear, most of us picture a pair of chunky leather boots; but you can never go wrong with a trainer to switch things up this season. As much as we love a pair of winter boots, on the occasional sunny Saturday it’s nice to opt for a lighter style to mix up your everyday attire. Trainers go with everything and can be easily styled to suit cold days!

Classic white trainers

The versatility of a simple white trainer is unmatched, pairing effortlessly with every casual outfit combination with the ability to be dressed up or down.

Style with jeans and a t-shirt for an easy weekend look, leggings and an oversized hoodie for running errands or a midi-dress and jacket for those warmer winter days.

A pop of colour

Although lots of us feel more comfortable wearing neutral footwear, a pop of colour in your trainers can add dimension to your wardrobe and is straightforward to style.

To ease you in, start by styling your bright footwear with neutral pieces to add an edge to your everyday style. This could be with denim, cream tones or monochrome shades depending on the tone of the shoe. You could also pull out a key colour within the trainer (in this case pink) and match a piece of your outfit to that accent colour, as we have done below.

Chunky silhouettes

Chunky silhouettes have been a fashion-favourite for quite a few years now, but sometimes the extra chunky platforms can be intimidating to style. We recommend pairing with a pair of wide leg jeans or trousers to allow the fabric to drape over the uppers, revealing only the soles for a contemporary and put-together look. Equally, you can show off the full design with a pair of leggings and teddy coat for a cosy on-the-go look -as we have below!

Metallic uppers

In terms of styling, all you need to do is treat them as a neutral – it’s as easy as that. Pair them with anything (as you would a neutral), from jeans and a nice top for a casual dinner out or a pair of tailored trousers and a T-shirt for a fashion-forward look, they also look great dressed down with leggings and an oversized biker jacket. We’ve gone for a monochromatic look with grey and black tones.
