Self-Care 101: How To Handle Stress

Burnout and stress are becoming more common nowadays due to our increasingly fast-paced and demanding world. But it’s always important to remember to take time for yourself, so we have included some ways you can manage or even avoid being overwhelmed.

Breaks

Taking breaks when needed during long work days is a must. Stretch your legs and get some air or relax at home doing something you enjoy. it’s not selfish to allocate time for yourself but essential for you mental health and wellbeing.

Learn to set boundaries

It is ok to say no every once in a while. It can help you manage your stress levels and keep organised. such as turning down extra commitments when you already have a lot on or turning your phone off after a set time.

By doing so, you can create more time for yourself to focus on what’s important.

Practice optimism

During particularly stress-heavy days it’s easy to focus on all the negatives. But sometimes, remembering all the positives you are grateful for or have achieved can be a great mood booster as it can help shift your perspective. It could be a supportive friend, a delicious meal you’ve ate or even a pet!

Make new connections

While taking a break from our phones and social media is always encouraged, it can also be an effective way to reach out to friends and loved ones for a little reassurance every now and then when you feel like you’ve had enough of today.

Maybe even join a club where you can socialise with others who share similar interests.

Sleep & Exercise

It goes without saying that sleep and exercise should be a priority. Taking note of what we put into our bodies and how many hours we can rest for can be super beneficial to get set for the following day.

Try to avoid staying up late and get a minimum of 7 hours of sleep a night and watch as you feel more refreshed and ready for anything!
