What to pack for a weekend away this Christmas
Welcome to Gabor’s festive weekend packing list.
The first week of December always seems to arrive sooner than expected. As the season gathers pace, our calendars fill with Christmas parties, festive markets, and long-awaited family visits. Between wrapping presents and finding the perfect outfit for every occasion, it’s easy to forget those spontaneous weekends away or long-planned trips that suddenly sneak up on us.
That’s where we come in. Whether it’s a countryside escape, a city break, or a cosy visit home, Gabor has you covered with an elegant, stress-free approach to packing.
1. Shoes: The Foundation of Every Outfit
At Gabor, we believe a great shoe grounds the entire look. This season, a classic black leather boot is your perfect travel companion, timeless, versatile, and practical for both city strolls and countryside walks. Effortlessly polished yet durable, it pairs with almost everything in your wardrobe. We suggest our Gabor Minard to be your travel companion this Christmas.
Gabor Tip: Travel in your boots. Whether you’re at the airport, on a train, or driving to your destination, they’re the easiest way to stay stylish and comfortable while saving suitcase space.
2. Outfits: Comfort Meets Considered Style
Once you’ve chosen your staple boot, build from there. Winter dressing is all about warmth, layers, and texture, but that doesn’t mean overpacking. Check the forecast and plan for your setting: soft knits and structured denim for relaxed weekends, or tailored trousers and a cashmere jumper for more polished moments.
Lay out your outfits ahead of time so each day’s look is ready to go. One pair of trusty jeans, a versatile jumper, and easy layers will take you from day to evening effortlessly and help you mix and match.
Gabor Tip: Pack by outfit and not by individual clothes. Place in separate cubes or sections of your bag, so you can simply grab and go when you arrive.
3. Accessories: The Art of Elevation
Accessories complete an outfit and bring both warmth and personality. Pack cosy tights, soft scarves, chic gloves, and understated jewellery to layer as the temperature drops. These small touches not only keep you comfortable but also add a subtle sense of luxury to your look without taking up too much baggage space.
Gabor Tip: Stick to staple colours or neutral patterns so you can mix and match. You will be surprised how one or two of the staple accessories can be switched depending on the outfit and make it feel like a whole new look.
4. Toiletries: The Everyday Essentials
Keep it simple and curated. Your travel set should include shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, your skincare favourites, a hairbrush, and makeup (if you wear it). Add your toothbrush and toothpaste, the small comforts in one toiletry bag, that keeps your routine feeling familiar, wherever you are.
Gabor Tip: Keep in a sandwich bag, although it may not feel as glamorous and organised, it saves tons of space and less bulkiness, with also protects if there’s any dreaded spillages.
5. Electronics: Stay Connected
These can often be forgotten due to our daily usage. Don’t forget your charger, headphones, portable charges or extension leads, essentials for travel days and quiet evenings alike.
Gabor Tip: Pack an extension lead when it comes to travelling somewhere new, this saves the worry of not having enough plug sockets or fighting over one in your room.
6. The Final Touches
Make sure to pack your passport, a good book, and a purse or wallet with your travel documents, everything you need for a seamless weekend away.
Gabor Tip: Always try and print out all the important documents and keep them in a separate wallet, this saves the panic of if our phone runs out or for whatever reason the connection gets lost.
Pack with Gabor this Christmas.
Wherever the season takes you, travel beautifully, with comfort, confidence, and timeless style.
