The Best Trainers for April: From Day Plans to Golden Hour
April is the perfect time to embrace socialising, the evenings stretch a little further, layers lighten, and suddenly there’s more reason to step outside, even if there wasn’t a plan to begin with. When that happens, you need reliability and comfort, and a Gabor trainer offers that. While sandals are slowly coming out of our suitcases and entering our everyday shoe rotation, it’s trainers that carry us through this part of the season. Reliable, easy, and ready for whatever the day turns into, especially in the UK, where the weather rarely commits either way.
This season, the Gabor trainers leans into that balance. Styles that feel considered but not overworked, with softer colour palettes, subtle contrasts in texture, and details that elevate without demanding attention. They’re the pairs you reach for without thinking. From day plans to golden hour, here’s how they fit into April.
For Day Trips
Some days are longer by nature. Time outside, a lot of walking, embracing the sunshine. That’s when comfort matters, while you still want something that feels considered.
The Novice brings those two together. A soft blend of leather and suede creates a neutral base, while touches of green and yellow add enough energy to reflect the season without overwhelming it. The details make this trainer essential for spring, soft scalloped edges, and dotted cut-outs that frame the foot, not competing with the overall simplicity of the shape.
With a thermoplastic rubber sole and a 3cm heel height, your feet are supported no matter how many steps you take... Get noticed in the Novice trainer this month!
For Brighter Evenings
There’s a moment, usually sometime after dinner, when you realise you don’t need to rush home yet and you can embrace the sunlight a little longer. That’s where lighter tones start to make sense again.
The Wisdom in sky suede sits comfortably in that shift. The silhouette itself is familiar, easy to wear and well-balanced, while the soft blue colourway brings something fresher into the mix, a quiet lift rather than a statement. Its suede upper gives it a gentle texture that catches the light differently as the evening softens, while still holding up to everyday wear. It works as easily with neutral layers: cream knits and black tailoring, adding a colourful pop without pulling focus.
The Wisdom comes with a thermoplastic rubber sole to add a supportive and grounded structure built to last. The combination of lace and zip fastening keeps things practical, and a removable insole means it adapts to your foot without fuss. It’s the kind of pair that feels right when the day lingers a little longer than planned.
For Spontaneous Plans
April has a way of filling its own diary in. A quick coffee becomes lunch; a short walk turns into an afternoon out. For days like that, simplicity usually wins. The Flower leans into that idea. Clean, white, and deliberately minimal, it’s the sort of trainer that slips into any outfit without needing much thought. Denim, dresses, something more tailored, it all works.
The leather upper gives it a slightly more refined finish, enough to feel put together without losing that everyday ease. While the Flower's durable man-made latex combined sole adds a chunkier effect, the 5cm heel height means it's designed to be worn often. There’s practicality built in as well; a side zip alongside the laces makes it quick to slip on and off, while the removable insole offers flexibility when it comes to comfort.
It’s a staple for spontaneous plans this spring.
For Life Admin
Not every day calls for a fully realised outfit. Sometimes you need something that works, quickly, comfortably, and without overthinking. The Dahma fits neatly into that space. The contemporary colourway of a white and black combination keeps things classic, while the mix of suede and leather adds depth, so it doesn’t feel too flat.
It pairs easily with whatever’s closest: leggings, denim, an oversized coat thrown on at the last minute. And once the Dahma is on, it holds its own. Supportive, steady, with enough lift in its 3cm heel to carry you through a day of getting things done while still looking chic.
Like our other top picks, it offers that flexibility underfoot with a removable insole, making it easy to adjust as needed. It’s the pair you leave by the door, the one that’s always ready to go.
Trainers tend to take on a bigger role this time of year, but that doesn’t mean they need to feel repetitive. A shift in colour, a change in texture, a small detail you didn’t notice at first, it all adds up to something that feels new again.
Whether you lean towards something lighter for the evening, a clean everyday staple, or a pair that carries you through longer days, it’s less about choosing something different and more about choosing something that fits. So as April settles in, the question isn’t really whether you need another pair, it’s which one you’ll end up reaching for first.
